With more hair hacks on TikTok than outfit posts, it’s hard to know which tips actually work and which ones you’d better skip. That’s why we asked our hairstylists at KURO to share their favorite hacks for healthy, shiny, and voluminous hair. No damaging tricks, but smart techniques and products that really make a difference. Discover our stylists’ secrets, from old-school volume tricks to the ultimate scalp care routines.
Nancy: care, care, care
The biggest hair hack is always the foundation: proper care. When your hair is healthy and hydrated, everything you do with it looks better. The new Kerasilk Hair Essence is perfect for that. It gives intense hydration, an almost glassy shine, and requires no processing time. Styling becomes easier, and the result looks instantly better.
Many people forget that care starts before styling. Nancy often sees clients applying styling products to dried-out hair, which cancels out the effect.
In a hurry? The Kerasilk Hair Essence can also be used as a quick treatment. Just leave it on for 5 minutes and rinse it out for visibly softer hair.

Gary: the best volume trick without tools
Gary’s favorite hack for volume: use your fingers to select random sections of hair, about 2 centimeters thick. Wrap them around one or two fingers and pin them with clips. Let them sit for 20 minutes or heat briefly with a diffuser. Then remove the clips, shake it out with your fingers, and finish with wax powder and hairspray.
Apply a root boost to wet hair. Once it’s dry, rub some wax powder or a little matte paste into your palm and massage it in using circular motions. This creates serious volume.
Lightly spray your hair with water. Scrunch with your fingers to reset the shape, or comb it in the desired direction and let it dry. When the roots dry in place, your hair will usually stay that way.
Use a detangling spray like Insiders Wonder Spray. Less tugging means less hair loss.

Mingus: Volume without a blow-dryer or curling iron
Sleep with damp hair loosely tied so the roots dry in a different direction than the natural fall. Combine this with a lightweight mousse like Goldwell Bodifying Control Mousse no. 3, and the next morning use a dry volume spray or dry shampoo for extra lift. Of course, the result depends on your hair type.
Davines OI Soufflé hydrates and adds grip. Perfect as a base for styling without weighing the hair down.
TikTok hack: yes or no?
Mingus loves retro TikTok trends like Dipiti-Doo curls, although they’re not always easy. What you should skip: oil hacks. Many people use oils incorrectly. Most oils seal in moisture but don’t hydrate, which can actually dry your hair out.
Mousse and hairspray on wet hair before blow-drying. It creates invisible grip and makes styling easier and longer-lasting.
Skipping conditioner. If your hair feels limp or greasy after using conditioner, you’re either using the wrong one or not rinsing it out well enough.
A chic bun with hairpins or chopsticks can be done in one wrist turn and looks red carpet ready.

Indy: The ultimate hack for healthy hair and growth
Indy swears by scalp care. Healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp. Her routine: a regular scalp detox to remove buildup from products and oils. This keeps the scalp balanced and supports hair growth.
A freshly cleansed scalp not only boosts growth but also adds more lift at the roots.
Using too many products without cleansing the scalp properly. This leads to buildup and dull hair growth.

Wiardi: Volume and texture without heat
Wiardi’s favorite hack: sleep with two loose buns on top of your head. It creates soft texture and natural volume without a blow-dryer or curling iron.
Use texture spray at the roots and quickly blow-dry to distribute evenly. His go-to: a fine, lightweight spray from roots to ends.
TikTok trend that works
Heatless curls with a silk bathrobe belt. It prevents breakage and adds a glossy finish.
Washing your hair too often. Skipping just one wash per week can already make a difference. Natural oils protect the hair and add shine and volume.
A sleek low bun with a middle part. Quick, chic, and perfect for a bad hair day.
